Good job Coach Moe! I truly enjoyed reading your book, The School Of Champions. I could feel your excitement and hear your voice as I read the pages and you laying out all the players, their accomplishments and the love you have for the sport and the school.

As I think of those things I am grateful for your book comes to mind. Been meaning to let you know that I read the book and just want to say it was awesome and I thank the Lord for giving you the vision to write it. I had so many feelings while reading the book. You certainly brought me back to that place I still call home. So many memories of Oakland which span more than one generation. My son enjoyed the book as well. A life story filled with triumph, struggle, love, and success. Thank you for giving back to the youth. This book could have so many different titles. One in particular comes to mind "How To Be A Success In Life".

I ordered your book from Amazon and just finished it. It was a great read. I hadn't realized the number of agonizingly close games you and your team played. It is a credit to your coaching ability and the inner strength and talent of your players that you triumphed.

Until I read the book I wasn't fully aware of the personal tragedies you had experienced. Your ultimate faith in God and the support of your families- blood and Mack- was very evident.

Since I retired I have become a very avid reader- 6-7 books a month. Your book is the best one I have read in a long, long time. I really enjoyed it.

A very well written chronicle of an awesome, inspiring and sometimes tear inducing story. One of those books I carried with me from the first words until I finished it. Growing up in the south bay back in the 1950's and 60's I had always heard impressive tales about McClymonds basketball; but only about all the famous professional athletes who attended high school there. This undefeated season got my attention in 2007 since I now had lived in the Berkeley area from1992; so I followed the 2008 high school playoffs closely in the Oakland Tribune and finally on tv when won it all. The following season I attended the 2009 MLK classic to watch the Warriors play De La Salle, (another intriguing high shool story in the east bay); met a few Mack alumni, and decided to visit the Mack House on Myrtle Ave itself. I was so impressed by the proud community spirit displayed far beyond the high school campus about Mack; that I followed the team on a good many of it's road trips in the OAL, as well as home games in coach Booze's first year as head coach. That year I met now retired coach Nathaniel in the stands of the Mack gym and was immediately impressed with his warmth and charisma; but I had know clue what lied deeper in his story and the legacy he had with McClymonds history. I have since kept friendships up with two great alumni I became acquainted with; Al Claiborne and Brian McGee who have encouraged my support. They have made me feel almost like an honorary member of the Mack family over the years. Al Claiborne recently recommended coach Moe's book,This "Agony to Ecstacy". I remembered the "Ecstacy" part as it took me back to my first memories of the McClymonds most recent state basketball title; but I had no clue about the real story of the "Agony" which was so compelling and riveting to me, that this has become a sports/life lessons classic book in my library. In the year that followed the story I was lucky enough in my visits to the Mack family to actually meet and speak to on different occasions: Will Cherry, Damon Powell, centers Jamarie Strickland and even big Wendell, got to know Brian McGee's cousin, Mr.Stanfield the famous P. A announcer, a very witty and sharp personality, and at a post season dinner for the 2008-09 team I even had the pleasure of finally meeting Frank Otis Jr. a year after his/their titanic performance in their undefeated season. Though I've moved out of the bay area I will be back; and will always feel welcome at the Mack House, a first class home for it's classy inhabitants. This book has cemented my resolve to that end.

I would like to express to you again how so very proud I am of you. Congratulations on a job well done. This Book is so well done that one would not believe that this is your first. Your choice to work with Chris was a good one. I just started reading today and I am enjoying i t so much. In fact, Its one of those kind of books that you don't want to put it down until you finish. I have already learned a lot of information that I was not aware of. I even had to laugh a couple of times, which was nice.. The picture of the High Five made me remember that Leavell Jr hung with you and the guys during the High Five era, Thank you.......Have to get back to my reading now...will post again when I'm finished.

Just got my book today! Can't wait to read it! So proud of you coach. To God be the glory for the things He's done in your life!

I received my copy of "Agony to Ecstasy" today in the mail and have finished approximately 1/3 of the book already. This book is well written, thoughtful, passionate, edifying, and engaging. It is easy to connect with this book. I cried reading “Goodbye to Loved Ones” and “The Healing Process”, but was overcome with newfound gratitude and love for my UncleDwight Nathaniel who has been unyielding in his dedication to family and community. I realize that he represents many things to many people, but for me, he is the quintessential preservation of my Auntie’s spirit that embraced life to the fullest and gave altruistically to those she encountered.
